Darren joined Boro from West Ham in the summer of 2017 from West Ham United for a fee of £5m.

The Bray-born goalkeeper made his professional debut with Charlton Athletic in 2007, before spells with Motherwell and Birmingham City.

He joined the Hammers in 2015, where he made 42 appearances, and finished the 2016/17 season as Slaven Bilic’s number one between the posts.

A full Republic of Ireland international, Darren has represented his country at every level from Under-15. He made his senior debut in 2011 against Oman.

Darren’s Boro debut came in the first game of the 2017/18 season away at Wolves (who would go up as champions). He would go on to become our only ever-present in the league, playing all 46 games. He made 50 appearances in total in his first season with us.
